Mia's Recital - Mexican Hat Dance
This is a new dance that the girls are learning and it is by far the most complicated dance so far. Nonetheless, they did a great job...especially Mia our DANCE STAR!
And yes, the fast step is Mia's favorite part of this dance!
Sebastian in Action!
So, Sebastian (#2 in the orange jersey) doesn't actually make contact with the ball in this clip but truly he is getting into the game now and has actually dribbled the ball, we've just never captured it on video. No matter what, he's our SOCCER STAR!
And yes, the boy in the #6 orange jersey is gigantic compared to Sebastian and everyone else on the team, he's also 6 already and has giants for parents.

Mia's State Fair Performances
Mia did a great job at her state fair performances but there were so many kids crowded onto the stage that it was hard to get good video of it :o(
She's still our STAR though!

Pretty Good for 3
So Mia has been writing her name for quite a while now.
But recently, she told me that she had written a note for me. I expected a picture but she gave me this. She figured out how to spell 'mom' all on her own. She sounded it out and wrote it down
This morning Mia was practicing writing and asked what the first letter in Pops' name is. I told her 'P' and she promptly wrote his name down. Watch out world! Here comes Mia!

Say What?
So I dropped Sebastian off at school this morning and since we got there a little early Mia and I sat with him until the bell rang. Well, in that time, a little girl named Morgan came running up to Sebastian with a grin from ear to ear and promptly told Sebastian that she was going to chase him at recess later that day. She giggled and ran off. I looked at Sebastian and asked him what that was all about. He said that there's a group of girls called "the kissing girls" that chase him and his friend Tyler at recess. I asked him if he's ever gotten caught and his response was "Yuck! No way Jose! I'm too fast for those girls, they're never gonna catch me!" This is only the second week of school, lord have mercy!
I'm going to invest in some good running shoes!

First Day of a Long Journey
Sebastian's first day of school was harder than I could've imagined. The four of us went for his first day and when the bell rang, the kids were lined up outside by class. You can see the worry on his little face.
We were all led into the cafeteria where we shared a "boo hoo breakfast" with the kids.
When we picked him up he was SO TIRED but he still proudly showed us the projects he worked on including his name.

Milestone
His first day of Kindergarten is fast approaching! He was very excited to get all the things on his supply list. One thing is for sure, Mama WILL cry on his first day!

Clan Bernstein
Before Cousin Monica's wedding the kids and Robert got to spend some time in California having fun with Clan Bernstein!
Tiny Dancer
Mia has done so well in her dance class that the teacher recommended that she be moved up to a dance class with older children. The new class is a lot more challenging but Mia is more than holding her own! We're so proud of her and it's so exciting to see the new dances come together!

Reading, Writing & Arithmetic
Both Mia and Sebastian are reading and writing more than just their names. I have a set of Dick and Jane books that I'll start them on this summer. Sebastian has a definite aptitude for math as well. He adds and subtracts numbers as high as 20.
Last Day of Preschool
My sweet boy's last day of preschool was yesterday. Can't help to have teared up over this little milestone.
Line Leader
Mia was chosen to be the line leader for her dance class and she was AWESOME!!! Teacher Anna said that she's ready for her first recital in June. My doll will certainly be the star of the show!
Mother's Day Weekend
We spent Saturday up in the Pecos Wilderness watching the hummingbirds and walking along Holy Ghost Creek. We spent the night in Santa Fe and the kids got to ride horses. Sebastian was a little hesitant but Mia was a natural! It was a very nice Mother's Day, especially when I got to stretch out on the big bed by myself!
Mother's Day Sock Hop
Sebastian's school organized a sock hop for Mother's Day. Sebastian was a greaser with folded up jeans, a fake pack of cigarettes rolled up in his t-shirt sleeve (he didn't know what it was supposed to be) and his hair greased back. They had root beer floats, 50's music, hula hoops, bowling and his teacher presented us with a wonderful cd of pictures from the whole school year. It was truly a special day.

While Daddy was Having Fun In Pittsburgh....
Here are some random pictures I took of things the kids and I did this week while Robert was out of town. The kids did some painting, had fun at the trampoline park and we took a road trip with our friend Carol up to the Pecos monastery. We had a nice time but we're glad Daddy's home!

Mia in Ballet Folklorico Class
Well, I wasn't sure
if she'd like this dance class but Mia LOVED it! She was definitely more
coordinated than the other little girl who's first day it also was (she's the
child running around the room). Mia enjoyed the music, she loved her purple
practice skirt and of course the stomping came naturally to her! I hope she
continues to like the class so that I can see her on stage for a performance!
My Mia!
Gravity Park
We had a great time jumping on the trampolines this morning. Sebastian was so upset when it was time to go. :o(

Papa Mero's Visit
Papa Mero's visit was a lot of fun for the kids. We saw the exhibits at the Natural History Museum where Sebastian let everyone know exactly how much he knows about the Cretaceous time period. We got to watch Sebastian play his first soccer game of the season, and even though it was snowing, our boy did a great job! We also visited the zoo and traveled to the top of the Sandias on the tram. We had a great time and miss Pops A LOT! Thank you Nina and Nono for making the best Cat in the Hat table and chairs for the kids, they love it!
